About the event

Randall Luce, who holds a degree in cultural anthropology and did field work in the Mississippi Delta, saw the first Black man elected in his county since Reconstruction. He witnessed famine in Africa and bombs falling in Eritrea while working for private aid organizations in developing countries. He has worked at a homeless shelter, taught anthropology to college students, and written novels at night while working for a law firm. He is the author of Motherless Children and Smokestack Lightning.
